have you noticed that CONFIDENT employees are more successful than the COMPETENT ones?

people who THINK they do a good job tend to get more recognition than people who actually do a good job but have less confidence, or don't go around ';blowing their own trumpet'; and ';networking';. has anyone else noticed this and why does it happen?
